GL 420: Systematic diversity

If you want to successfully grow potatoes, you must be able to react quickly to changing conditions. In the narrow time frame of spring cultivation, this does not only apply for the adaptation to different soil conditions, but also for the combination of work processes. This is why Grimme has completely revised the tried  and tested planting  technology of the cup planting machines and has developed a new model range that meets these requirements.

With the new GL 420, we offer you systematic diversity: you can chose between different bunker versions, chassis concepts, soil cultivation devices and ridging hillers. Thus, the machine can be optimally adapted to your specific operational circumstances. In addition, you can always react in a flexible manner to your soil’s requirements.

The GL 420 (Grimme Potato Planter, 4 rows, 2 t bunker capacity) with various convincing innovations. The large covering discs in front of the wheels ensure an optimum ridge shaping as soil compaction is reduced with the system. All machines with an automatic shaping board steering have the innovative mechanical connection of the furrow opener with the shaping board. This guarantees a constant planting depth even with changing ground conditions and bunker load. Which results in an even growing of the crop.

Light influences the crop growing. Potato growers see the result in the field next to the spraying tracks. The tubers are mostly bigger than in the rest of the field. It is possible to avoid this effect by reducing the planting distance in the rows next to the spraying track (see picture). With the option "clever planting" it is possible. The hydraulic single row drive of the planting belts ensure cultivating optimized planting distance at the right and left-hand side of the spraying track to ensure an equal crop growing. This is exclusive Grimme know-how!
